Find your Facebook friends whenever they're nearby!
Today Loopt began working with Facebook Connect to allow users to "connect" their Facebook identity and friends.
Combining Facebook Connect with Loopt will let users share and discover recommendations for nearby businesses, integrate location awareness into their Facebook feeds, and easily find and connect with Facebook friends both on and offline – as their Facebook privacy settings will allow of course.
Look for the new features to be available to iPhone users in late summer and on BlackBerry and feature phones across Verizon, Sprint Nextel and Boost Mobile shortly after that.
See here for the full press release.
This looks like a fantastic service.
I'm pretty disappointed by the lack of WinMo client, though. Are you interested in 3rd party contributions? That is, would I be setting myself up for legal trouble if I coded my own WinMo client and submitted the sources to your company, or would that be welcomed?
Cheers,
-Lee

How do I get the Facebook to work with my Loopt on the iPhone? I don't see any options when I start up Loopt.
Is this coming in later versions?

Same as comment above? How can we get Loopt info from Facebook to iPhone. I have 84 friends on Loopt through Facebook, but none show up on my iPhone. I don't think I should have to invite them twice to join in 2 different locations to the same service!!! Any chance of 2 way LooptFacebook communication in the Future?

Hi, I'm new to Loopt. I posted a message to Loopt using my cell phone (G1 on T-mobile) and it posted twice on Facebook. And didn't post at all on Twitter.
One FB post that looks like this: Angela just got done making lots of phone calls, in Sacramento, CA http://loopt.us/4HylMg.f
And then another one right after with a map, but same exact message.
I linked my Loopt account with Twitter and Facebook from the Loopt site while logged into my account using my desktop.
What am I doing wrong? I don't want to irritate people with double-postings and I'm bummed my post didn't appear on Twitter.
Thanks!
~ Angela
